A career in media science can take you in several directions as it has many different facets. The programme includes study of journalism and mass communication, advertising, public relations, media management, and marketing communication, each of which have their own scope and opportunity for students with the required knack. Activity clubs like ad club, radio club, debate club and drama & film club are aimed at instilling confidence and promote skill development among students. Interactive sessions with eminent Media Gurus, creative communication processes & personality enhancement through theatre & performance – all contribute to overall development of aspirants. At NSHM, there are various labs with state-of-the-art equipment to impart world class knowledge. AV Van, 3,500 sq. ft. Shoot Floor, iMAC Editing Lab, Post Production Lab with Power Mac, Audio Recording & Editing Lab with 16 track digital stereo recording console G5 and SD & HD VTR are some of them.

Programme Education Objective

  • Prepare students with knowledge and skills of print, electronic, and digital journalism, marketing communications, radio, event management, film and stage productions, photography, videography, other new media communications for various vocations and careers in journalism and media and entertainment industry.
  • Enable them to advance media studies strengthening the pillar of democracy, information & knowledge society and world peace by way of lifelong learning and practice in a multi-disciplinary and diverse settings in multiple roles as journalist, reporter, RJ, editor, producer, director, writer, presenter, media advocacy, event manager, etc. with utmost regard to ethics and social responsibility.

Career Opportunities

Proving its resilience to the world, the Indian Media industry is on the cusp of a strong phase of growth, backed by rising consumer demand and improving advertising revenues. The industry revenues are likely to exceed US$ 32.7 billion by 2019 from US$ 17.0 billion in 2014, growing at compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.0 per cent between 2015 and 2020.
