The Vision Science Conference 2024, organized by the Department of Optometry and Vision Science at NSHM Institute of Health Science in Kolkata, concluded with tremendous success. The event brought together 200 delegates, including professionals from various specialties, creating a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and scientific innovation. Key sessions featured insightful presentations on myopia management by experts like Mr. Rupam Sinha and Prof. Monica Chaudhry, as well as an engaging talk on neuroplasticity of vision by Dr. Rajeev Prasad. A highlight was the workshop on visual rehabilitation using scleral RGP lenses, led by Mr. Gagan Sahni. The conference emphasized the importance of continuous learning, with impactful discussions on cutting-edge technologies and treatments in the field.

The NSHM Institute of Health Sciences, Kolkata, department of Dietetics and Nutrition celebrated National Nutrition Month 2024 with a series of engaging events to promote healthy living. Highlights included a radio drama by Dr. Anindita Ray Chakraverti on nutritional anaemia, a seminar presentation competition showcasing students' innovative ideas, and a non-fire cooking contest where participants crafted nutritious dishes. The program also featured inter-college participation, fostering collaboration and community engagement. These initiatives emphasized public education, creativity, and partnerships, reinforcing the Department’s commitment to empowering healthier communities and inspiring lasting, positive lifestyle changes.

The Faculty Development Program on "Advanced Case Study Workshop: From Creation to Classroom Excellence," organized by NSHM Business School, Kolkata on August 30th and 31st, 2024, featured Prof. A.V. Vedpuriswar and Prof. Kumar Satyaki Ray. Prof. Vedpuriswar's session focused on crafting impactful case studies through advanced research methodologies, topic selection, and data collection techniques. Prof. Ray’s session emphasized mastering case study instruction, fostering critical thinking, and developing instructional materials. Faculty from esteemed institutions, including Adamas University, MAKAUT, and The Bhawanipur Education Society College, participated, engaging in writing exercises, role-playing, and discussions. The program, part of NSHM's Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) drive, aimed to enhance participants' case study development and teaching skills.

NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Advertising Club Calcutta, hosted the event "Advertising: A Career in Curiosity" on August 30th. Esteemed speakers, including Mr. Kanchan Datta, Mr. Samrat Mukherjee and Mr. L. Muralikrishnan highlighted the importance of curiosity, creativity, and innovation in the evolving advertising industry. Mr. Datta emphasized the role of curiosity in brand storytelling, referencing Simon Sinek's Golden Circle theory. Mr. Mukherjee discussed the shift towards digital marketing, while Mr. Muralikrishnan illustrated advertising's historical significance and social impact. The event provided invaluable insights to MBA, Media, and Design students, showcasing NSHM's commitment to nurturing creativity and preparing students for dynamic careers in advertising and media.
